.45 Single Magazine carrier

Four posts in the same day - work is very slow today.  Here is a .45 magazine carrier for my 1911 - the design is borrowed from a Milt Sparks design.  Milt Sparks in my opinion is the premier holster maker in the county.  I have a couple of their holsters and and a double magazine carrier for my 1911 Kimber Raptor.  I made this for my personal use and since it is a direct copy of a Milt Sparks design I will not be selling these magazine carriers.  You can read more about their products and order directly from them at www.miltsparks.com.

Slim Line Wallet

Here is new wallet that I designed.  It is made from 2-2.5 oz. petite tooling calf that I hand distressed to give the leather a unique antique appearance.  The leather was left unfinished and over time will develop a nice patina from the natural oils on my hands.  It was hand stitched and in the pictures below the wallet has been used for around a month and a half and the leather has already started to change in feel and appearance - it will continue to just get better with time.

Dog Collar

Here is a hand tooled dog collar that is 1" thick and is tooled on 6-7 oz. leather that was skived down to around 4-5 oz.  Custom home brew dye job and finished off with some tan kote.  The underside was left natural and the double bar buckle is attached with rivets.

Cell Phone Holder

I haven't posted in a while - I think this is my first post this year - I've been busy making leather goods and hanging out with the fam - not enough hours in the day to post on here too.  Here is a cell phone holder I made a while ago - it is made from petite tooling calf that is 2-2.5 oz.  There is no stitching on this one - it is put together with rivets - a first for me.  It was dyed brown and finished off with some atom wax.

Pigskin Wallet

Here is a wallet I just finished - it is made from pigskin that would normally be used for lining belts, bags, wallets, cases etc.  It is around 1.5 oz. - 2 oz leather so it is very thin.  I used this thin leather because I wanted a very flexible and thin wallet - nothing fancy - I just wanted a clean look and a place to put a few cards and some bills that would fit nicely in either the front or rear pocket. This piece is hand rubbed with some leather dressing to darken up the pigskin from it's natural pink color. You can see the first two before pictures with no leather dressing and the after pictures that are much darker. One of the great things about leather is how it changes with time - this wallet will continue to darken with use and create a nice patina from the natural oils from my hands.. It is hand stitched with waxed thread and the edges have been burnished to finish off the wallet.

Triquetra

This is some recent work for a client and co-worker Sandy that wanted a hair barrette with the celtic symbol "Triquetra" on it.  The Triquetra has many different meanings depending on what circle you are in.  In Christian circles wikipedia says  "The symbol was later used by Christians as a symbol of the Trinity (FatherSon and Holy Spirit). This appropriation was particularly easy because the triquetra conveniently incorporated three shapes that could be interpreted as Christian Ιχθυς symbols."  - that definition is good enough for me.  This piece is made from 5-6 oz. veg tanned leather and and finished off with 1/8" kangaroo lace.  She was ecstatic when she received her custom hair barrette.  I get great satisfaction making these leather pieces - that's why I do what I do - but when a customer literally jumps up and down with excitement and makes a certain shrill of pure happiness and joy - it makes all the hours of hard work well worth it.

HAPPY THANKSIVING!

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving with their friends and family.  As I reflect on this past year I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me and my bride with the birth of son - Cooper. He is such a blessing to our family - Coop truly is a gift from God.  What are you thankful for?

Business Card Holder

This was a really quick project - I needed something to hold my business cards. As always it is hand stitched with waxed thread (I don't have much choice when I don't have a leather sewing machine! ha ha) and this one is just the natural leather with some leather dressing applied - no dye or stain.

Tooled Wrist Cuff

This is a wrist cuff that I just finished for my Father-in-law; it is a early Christmas present, I was going to wait to give it to him at Christmas - but there is no sense in letting it sit at my house for a month when he can have it now. The bottom layer is around 4 oz. black latigo leather hand stitched to a custom tooled top layer of 2 oz. leather finished off with a home brewed dye job. The tooling was inspired by a Steveb Leatherworks design - gotta give props where props are due.

My Personal Wallet

This is my daily wallet and first wallet I ever made for that matter - with custom Maltese cross and spiderweb tooling finished with a home-brewed dye job. A solid heavy duty wallet that I will enjoy for many years to come.

Custom Handstitched Leather Wallet

This is a wallet I just finished for my bride. The exterior pattern is hand stitched with waxed thread around custom tooling on 4 oz. leather, while the interior is 1-2 oz. leather with a custom fabric lining. The inside edge of the pockets and and outside is laced with 1/8" kangaroo. The wallet snaps together with a dual concho keeper.  The design on the outside is inspired by a wallet that was made by Kevin King Leather.

Heavy Duty Knife Sheath

Here is a knife sheath I made for a co-worker.  He got this knife in Vietnam and it came with a PVC sheath that had deteriorated over the years.  This sheath is made from 8 oz. leather and built to last.  Here are the results - a heavy duty, custom made sheath.
